What is Advanced FUE™?

Advanced FUE™ is an FUE Hair Transplant process developed by Advanced Hair Restoration over the course of transplanting 2 million FUE grafts. This process involves techniques and protocols of handling grafts, graft hydration requirements, placing strategy, and implementation of the latest FUE technology. Using this technique we have maximized graft survivability (matching that of FUT Linear grafts), reduced the duration of procedures (improving patient comfort and reducing time grafts are out of the body), and have increased the number of viable FUE grafts that can be harvested while still staying in the safe zone. Our industry-leading experience and these techniques allow us to surpass industry expectations and hypotheses of older studies.

How does Advanced FUE™ compare to Robotic FUE

We performed multiple side-by-side studies of the robotic device alongside our device (including 50-50 splits on the same patient) over the course of over a year. We observed that the Advanced FUE™ technique consistently yielded better-than-or-equal-to results, yet caused less patient discomfort (as indicated by patients who had both), fewer transections, less donor trauma, and substantially shorter overall procedure times. Several robotic FUE cases had to be aborted mid-procedure due to limitations and requirements of the machine that were not practical or possible for the specific patient and circumstance. We have never had to abort an Advanced FUE™ procedure due to such circumstances.

We found robotic FUE to have numerous requirements on the type of hair and skin a patient needs to have to be considered a good candidate. Curly hair or skin that does not have good contrast with the hair were not ideal candidates. Patients with previous procedures (FUE or Linear) or with pre-existing scars or marks also were substantially limited in the number of grafts that could be harvested. Similarly, we found robotic FUE had difficulty with maintaining a consistent harvesting density, especially as the device went away from the easiest zones and struggled with changing angles of the hair and scalp. This could lead to zones being noticeably more harvested than others, even post-operatively. Our technique is much more flexible in these regards, as the human mind and eye are able to adapt to variations and new situations far better than preprogrammed software.
