About Dr. Gaffney

Dr. Gaffney has performed more than 16,000 hair transplants across a career spanning three decades. Trained at Meharry Medical College with plastic surgery residency training in Missouri, he served in the US Navy, including Operation Desert Storm, before devoting his career to hair restoration: Associate Medical Director at Bosley Medical Group, private practice in Beverly Hills, and Medical Director of Hair Club for Men in West Hollywood before joining Advanced Hair in 2019. Consultations are free and in person, with no pressure and no obligation, and end with a personalized treatment plan and quote. In person, your physician examines your scalp and donor area directly and maps your exact graft count, so the plan is precise.

Candidacy. The grafts needed for your result, the availability and density of your donor hair, hair characteristics, and likely future loss. If a procedure is not right yet, medications and laser therapy can help preserve the hair you have.
Design and graft count. A custom hairline and your exact number. Each graft carries 1 to 4 hairs.
Timeline. Most patients are back at non-strenuous work within 1 to 3 days. Grafted hair typically sheds in 2 to 4 weeks, new growth begins in 3 to 4 months, and results build over 12 months.
Cost. In the United States a hair transplant typically costs about $5,000-$15,000+, priced per graft, with the per-graft rate scaling down as your graft count rises. No hidden fees. Financing options are available.

Typical ranges: hairline restoration 1,500 to 2,500 grafts, crown 2,000 to 3,500, full restoration 3,000 to 5,000+.
